Charities and other not-for-profit organisations are under more pressure than ever before to show that they are trustworthy, accountable and contribute to society. Communicating impact is not just good practice, it’s also positive step which can engage stakeholders, funders and donors alike.
UNW and Northstar Ventures are pleased to be holding a workshop aimed at charities and not-for-profit organisations that are keen to develop their understanding and use of impact measurement.
Peter Deans, an independent consultant working with charities and social enterprises, will provide an overview of social impact reporting. He will also provide examples and share his thoughts on what works well and what doesn’t.
We will also be joined by guest speakers from two VCSE sector organisations based in the North East.
Simon Gerry, Chief Executive of Newcastle University Students’ Union will talk about his organisation’s approach to impact reporting and give an example of how data and feedback is being used to highlight the impact and achievements of the organisation.
Dan Ellis, Founder and Managing Director of Jam Jar Cinema CIC, an independent community cinema in North Tyneside, will then provide insight into how his organisation recently developed its approach to measuring and reporting social impact and is now using this as part of its day-to-day operations.
You will also hear from Northstar Ventures who will discuss the importance of impact reporting from the point of view of a social impact investor.
Following the presentations there will be a Q&A panel session. You will also have the opportunity to talk one-to-one with one of the Northstar team about the North East Social Investment Fund.
